Back in the 2000 election, when Nader was running against the two "corporate" candidates,
Bush and Gore, I knew well that he did not stand a chance of winning,
but Kathy and I voted for him anyway.
The Democrats, after their
humiliating defeat to Bush, blamed Nader.
The truth of the matter is
that neither of the major political parties has the trust of the
American people and this fact was manifest during the 2000 election.
With each election the turnout of voters have become fewer and fewer.
On Sunday's Meet the Press, Tim Russert asked Nader about the Democrats'
allegations that Nader was the cause of their defeat to Bush in 2000.
Nader replied that he and any other third party candidate had the right
to run for elected office, and that the two major political parties did
not have exclusive rights to represent the American people. Nader went
on to remind the viewers that Bush's brother Jeb, and his Secretary of
State, Katherine Harris were instrumental in stealing the election, not
those votes which were cast for him, Ralph Nader.
Mr. Russert had nothing
to say -- and in fact remained unusually quiet as Nader went on to denounce
the current political system as totally controlled by the big money of the
corporations.
Hearing Ralph Nader telling it like it is was a breath of
fresh air, especially after months of hearing the usual lies and
propaganda from the mainstream candidates.
Look, Nader may not have a
chance of winning, but he is the only candidate who is telling the
truth. This is reason enough why we should support him in the coming
election.
As far as spoiling things, there's nothing to spoil -- because
the two parties running have already spoiled things.
