Having read of the patriots of the American Revolution of 1776, and how they stood their ground against the tyranny of King George, I am humbled.
These courageous individuals, rich and poor alike, risked everything for liberty and independence. Without the sacrifices these men made, we would not have enjoyed the rights and freedom which we now are in danger of losing.
Freedom and liberty once achieved can not be sustained when those entrusted to defend and uphold these principles succumb to corruption, cowardice, despotism, and treason. We are once again threatened by tyranny -- not a royal despot as in the time of the American Revolution, but an entity far more sinister.
This evil will pose as the representatives of the people. It roams the halls of Congress and the Oval Office. It lurks in corporate boardrooms and powerful banking institutions. Its influence has even poisoned what was once a free press.
It threatens not only those of us here in America, but humanity world wide with war, slavery, pollution, terror, and death. This New World Order, as these practitioners of greed like to call it, wishes to re-make the world in which we live, to suit their own diabolical goals.
They, the powerful multi-national corporations and their political vassals, seek to control all the resources of the world. What they cannot buy with their accumulated wealth, they will seize by military action. This is already happening in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In regards to the American economy, the workplace as we know it, with all its hard won laws protecting the rights of workers, labor unions, etc. will cease to exist. This is already happening, too. Witness the mass exodus of industry and outsourcing across the border and overseas, replaced by minimum wage Wal-Marts, the new American sweatshop, offering few or no benefits.
As a result of a failing marketplace and credit card debt, personal bankruptcies and foreclosures are at an all time high. The American Dream is fading fast. What the banks can't grab the Government will, through unpaid taxes, misused environmental laws and the old favorite, eminent domain. Private property for the common man is no longer an option.
Anticipating resistance to the worsening political and economic situation, PATRIOT Act II -- though it remains largely secret -- is believed to give U.S. government the right to arrest protestors as terrorists. Peaceful demonstrators, whose once had the right to assemble and protest, are being arrested and attacked by paramilitary police using chemical weapons and rubber bullets. And in the corporate-owned media, there is zero tolerance for dissenters in radio, TV, and print, resulting in job loss for those who question the status quo.
With this assault on dissent, news of a huge expansion of the Guantanamo prison, and rumors of large detention camps being set up on Federal Reserves, and white trains with shackles in place to transport large numbers of dissenters, becomes more believable.
In order to help implement this New World Order, the politics of fear is now the prime mover to distract the public from the truth. With constant color-coded warnings, we are reminded of the Sept. 11 attacks. However, many unanswered questions undermine the official government version of the event, especially when the President himself is stonewalling the investigation.
His behavior only increases the suspicion of many who believe 9/11 was aided and abetted, or entirely perpetrated, by high-ranking members of the U.S. Government, conspiring with foreign intelligence agencies, notably the Israeli Mossad, in a bold attempt to consolidate power.
Like the patriots of 1776, we find ourselves, average citizens, in a situation where we eventually will have to confront the evil which is corrupting our Government, stealing the sweat from our brows, engaging in the murder and exploitation of innocents here and abroad, and now, stealing the last safeguard to our freedom and liberty, our voices.
With all our major political candidates controlled by special interests, our vote is moot. As growing darkness casts its shadow over this land, let us hope we still can muster the courage for the coming ordeal. Let us not dishonor the memories of those patriots of 1776!
