If this all seems harsh, it is. I am light years more severe on Democrats than on Republicans.
With the Republicans, you expect fascism, criminality, war, abuses, torture, and that’s just at their convention.
With the Democrats, I expect something that is better and noble and worthy of getting all excited about.

Both parties are the stooges of ‘special interest’ monies and regular Americans are an inconvenience that only matters to the political machines come election time.
It is election time so, welcome to the machine.
My personal thanks go to Pink Floyd. |

I received an email from Democrats.com in which they are asking me to sign a petition urging Ralph Nader to withdraw from the presidential contest. I receive various emails asking me to ‘action’ one thing or another. Some I do and some I don’t. I have some problems with Democrats.com asking me to sign a petition that urges Ralph Nader to withdraw from the election process.
Initially, Ralph Nader has every right in America to run for the Office of President of the United States of America. The Constitution makes very few prohibitions against running for the office. For the most part, unless one has been convicted for advocating armed rebellion and overthrow of the American government, anyone can run. Anyone! That is the American way.
It is our process and skewed as it is, it mostly works. The presidential elections always brings out some of America’s best loved and screwiest comedians. You can’t include the politicians in this category as, they just aren’t funny.
The Constitution does not make any mention of Democrats or Republicans. The two party system that we are now enslaved to, is not endorsed by the Constitution.
Since the days of Richard M. Nixon, fewer and fewer eligible Americans participate in the process. Civic duty is becoming a dinosaur and the two political parties are at fault.
Both parties are the stooges of ‘special interest’ monies and regular Americans are an inconvenience that only matters to the political machines come election time. It is election time so, welcome to the machine. My personal thanks go to Pink Floyd.
Less than half of the eligible Americans are registered to vote, and about the same number vote. So, for a candidate to actually win an election, they must only garner a little more than a quarter of the vote. (I am not going to get into the Electoral College. That whole concept pisses me off, no end.)
Think of it, a little over 25% of Americans are deciding to empower maniacs to run our government. (I use the Bush administration to illustrate my ‘maniacs’ premise.)
With America being “polarized” by the political parties and the parties in servitude to corporate and special interests money, elections are decided by small fractions of a percentage of voters. That’s the way the process has evolved. It isn’t good and it isn’t right but, ce le vie.
It is my conjecture that, the parties are quite happy with most of the electorate not participating. They would all get their sorry fannies tossed out of office. America is left with a choice of ‘evil spun slightly right’ or ‘evil spun slightly left’. Some choice.
Ralph Nader should be given credit for at least making an effort to offer something different. Ralph Nader hasn’t got a snowball's chance in hell of winning the Office of President. I know it and you should know it. That in no way diminishes his run. The man has the courage of his convictions to stand erect and speak out against the two-party madness that has infected America. Ralph is the twenty-first century version of Don Quixote and god bless him for it.
If the Democrats can’t muster enough support among the American people, with the issues they campaign on well, that is the Democrats' fault. The Democrats offer middle of the road nausea guised as John Kerry.
John Kerry -- now there’s a model of dynamic banality and pseudo-intellectual mumblings. Have you ever tried to sit through one of his speeches? Kerry starts to talk and the mind begins to wander.
The Democratic Party offers America sheer boredom on a sterling silver platter. So, Democrats.com, lay off of Ralph Nader and don’t even start to whine about Nader stealing votes from Democrats. If you want votes, offer something that is tangible and honest and not god-damned Bush-lite.
Ralph Nader is exercising his Constitutional right, so suck it up.
With the Democrats of late, I get the impression of the cry-baby little kid on the playground. “Mommy, that bully stole my candy.”

With the Democrats, I expect something that is better and noble and worthy of getting all excited about.
So, to the Democrats, the ball is now in your court. Are you up to the challenge?
Oh yes, and I won’t be signing your petition urging Ralph Nader to pull out of the presidential race.
