Today is one of those days ... I woke up feeling old. Don't get me wrong, the day broke quite beautifully in my little slice of the world, the sun shining, the sky blue, the birds doing what the birds do, pleasant temperature ... and somehow I feel old. Universally old and universally weary.
And there is an additional sense of dread that is unnatural and eerie. If you mix these sensations together, something is wrong, terribly wrong.
There is something foul and evil afoot. Something that is ethereal and at the same time it is tangible and real.
Something that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand straight up and with that sensation comes the inevitable shudder. Yes, there is something wrong.
America is polarized and that is no headline for the news. America is being torn in two different directions, so many different perspectives. The right-leaning perspective is adamant that their leaning is correct. The left-leaning perspective is adamant that their leaning is correct. The ground that exists between the two perspectives is a barren battleground that gives rise to hate. The very nature of hate itself begins to become self-aware.
A hate monster has been created, that walks and stalks our nation. A hate monster by nature is hungry, so it perpetuates more hate to ensure its appetite is satisfied. A hate monster needs an atmosphere of mistrust in order to be able to breathe.
Our hate monster does an admirable job of provoking mistrust. Political mistrust, social mistrust, corporate mistrust, and of course everyone mistrusts the military so our hate monster is quite at home there.
It wasn't too long ago that this hate monster became animated. The adherents of the Cult of Creative Animation are mostly to blame for creating the climate that bred this hate monster. The Cult of Creative Animation is a clandestine sect of pseudo-intellectual capitalists. Their credo is “Global domination by whatever means are necessary.” They are particularly adept at using simple minded politicians and wind-bag demagogue media personalities to further their crusade. The sect also has an evil master plan that has been put into action and it has three very simple sections.
1- Dummy down the dummies.
2- Enslave the masses economically.
3-Lie, disseminate, and steal all the money before the dummies wise up.
The plan is quick, conceptual, inherently evil, and brilliant. Pound the people of America over the head in a continual barrage of mindless drivel that streams from the media corporations directly into the homes and minds of America. Trick the masses into believing that they can escape their ho-hum lives and their clap-board houses by buying into the “American Dream”. The great American dream of commercial excess and got to have more. Cloud the cultural dialog with incomprehensible nonsense and a climate of fear. Repeat it over and over and over and... while America struggles with choices and war and illegality and terrorism and threat levels, steal the National Treasury before anyone notices. The acolytes of the Cult of Creative Animation are solely responsible for insuring that the hate monster gets it's fill of creative hate.
I have fictionalized a scenario that is very real. There is in fact a real world/real time Cult of Creative Animation, it just goes by a different name. There is in fact a real world/real time assemblage of acolytes that serve the Cult of Creative Animation, and they all have real names and real professions. In fact, they are all in service to our hate monster. I have simply changed the names. Hate, fear, illogic, repetitive propaganda, the atmosphere of an election year, and this is all fertile ground for our cult and it's acolytes to turn their schemes into reality.
Now I need to jump back to the sense of dread that I had referred to previously. There are subversive and seditious men that have taken control of our government. They lie, they steal, they murder, they disseminate false information or no information, they use whatever means are necessary to achieve their ends. This is a dreadful situation.
Congress, for some unknown reason, is refusing to hold these men accountable. This transcends the everyday back-and-forth bickering that usually preoccupies our Congress.
America is held hostage and our Constitution is under very real attack. The foundations of America that were laid down by our founding fathers are being reinterpreted. The federal courts that have always given America a sure remedy for governmental excess are under attack, and the federal judicial bench is being packed with men who have sworn political allegiance to the same subversive and seditious men that were mentioned earlier.
Congress, for some unknown reason, is refusing to address these attacks. Basic American principles like the separation of church and state are being announced as no longer relevant.
The fictional Cult of Creative Animation would have America become an Imperial America, and America's president would then become an Emperor and Caesar, resplendent with the proper accoutrements of Imperial Office.
America is preoccupied with a roving hate monster that feeds wherever it can find nourishment. America is missing the very real war that is raging in our very own government. America has been beaten into submission by the three goals that were expressed by the Cult of Creative Animation. America has been beaten into an almost coma-like state of indifference. That is the usual fate of a democracy that has grown fat and lazy and overly obsessed with it's own arrogance.
So, I am tired and weary and I feel very old. One keeps up the fruitless endeavor of yelling, “the sky is falling,” but after a while one just gives up and sits down sadly and throws one's hands up in the air and repeats, I am tired and weary and I feel very old.
Is the fight to awaken a fat, lazy, and overly obsessed democracy to be abandoned? Never! Never! It's just that today, I feel old and tired and weary and frustrated in the search for some new direction and a plan for attacking the acolytes of the Cult of Creative Animation.
A hate monster on the loose is no laughing matter, so to extinguish the flames of hate that this hideous monster leaves in its wake becomes of paramount concern. And possibly, if one could get the Congress to wake the fuck up and do it's job, this would be of significant importance also.
So tonight I sleep and in the wee early hours of the wee early morning, I sojourn to the desert for some quiet meditation and reflection. The desert always restores my soul and the inspiration for a new plan of attack will be waiting there, ready for some renewed implementation.
Oh yes, I will be back with a progress report.
