When the heart is not lied about, it is clear when maliciousness is becoming the controlling force.

Piece of mind by Carl Pwccaman July 31, 2003
Ratta-tat-tat, three gallons of crap in my cap, all a
swigglin' and a' swayin', good golly what a potty.
You know the brain sort of just sits there, for
something
so active. Yammerin' and trash-talk, boredom, distraction, click,
read, and then out of nowhere, BAMM, oh the GALL I can't believe they
said... BAMM, oh, well that's different, BAMM, I can't believe they
said that, it just ain't right... but my brain is still just sitting
there, hardly stirring, you couldn't tell it's not like the skull was
pulsing or barbs were coming out of the follicles,
not today at least, no ripples of skin folding and contorting into
curses on the brow, the only way to tell is the faster furious moving
of fingers, but the last time this happened there wasn't even
that.
Oh the irony. It used to be people could sit and argue heatedly
without causing so many head implosions and burst blood vessels. Or
at least it used to be that I could.
But then there always were rude-zones... those places where you
could always know you would get some approval for tearing someone a
new asshole... those places where you could give someone a piece of
your mind without being called rude or impolite or a bully, or where
no one cared about those things. This all was and still can be quite
refreshing when the rest of interactions of society are filled with
pressure to ignore or excuse bullies and control-freaks, or when you
just can't confront a jerk in most cases. Nevertheless these places
are always quite dangerous, because these zones are bully-friendly or
naturally attractive to nasty sorts.
Can't there also be more dialog zones, and debate zones, and
challenge zones? What about bully-free zones of heated debate and
severe disagreement? What about zones where calling a bully a bully,
and moving on to decent dialog and vigorous disagreement is expected?
There are more choices than just the two poles of bully-tolerant zone
versus constrained-over-polite-always-agreeing-and-never-confronting
zone.
When the heart is not lied about, it is clear when maliciousness
is becoming the controlling force. The heart knows how
disproportionate one's vitriol is, the heart knows when it is
vitriol, the heart knows how malicious the target is, the heart knows
how much is repeatedly controlled by the worst of motives. And if the
heart does not know without doubt, it nevertheless has some idea, if
it is not divided completely, or lacking in integrity.
Is it too much to ask myself that the piece of my mind that I spit
out be motivated by a desire for some peace of mind, and not just for
myself?
