| Reliable Alternatives is a net-ring connecting some reliable alternative news and opinion websites. At every click, you'll find the kind of news and opinion that's curiously lacking from daily newspapers and nightly newscasts. |
|
All sites in this ring are opposed to the status quo, driven by dedication, reasonably reasonable, and updated often.
• "Opposed to the status quo" means we won't waste your time with sites endorsed by or endorsing the Democratic or Republican parties. The status quo isn't working. • "Driven by dedication" means these sites are crafted with care and hard work, and are primarily concerned with reporting and/or commenting on current events. • "Reasonably reasonable" means these are serious, sane sites: No hate sites, and no sites dedicated to flying saucers, the Kennedy assassinations, crystal healing, holocaust revisions, horoscopes, the Olson Twins, America's secret treaties with space aliens, the Bilderbergs, Freemasons, and Illuminati, etc. • "Updated often" means each of these sites features substantial new material at least weekly so readers get news that's news and opinions that are relevant to the news. |
There's an excellent chance you'll be offended as you surf these sites. You have been warned: We believe everyone has a right to express an opinion (which doesn't mean that every opinion expressed is right).
Each of these sites offer an utterly independent viewpoint. Membership in this net-ring does not imply endorsement of opinions expressed at other member sites. Webmasters are invited to join, if your site is opposed to the status quo, driven by dedication, reasonably reasonable, and updated often. We welcome websites from left and right, and we especially welcome sites from beyond such easy categorization. And it's easy: Just sign up and then add a brief bit of HTML toward the bottom of your website's 'news' page. If you have any questions about any of this, please contact the net-ring manager at unknownnews at myway.com. |
An important note: We won't respond to requests from sites that don't have the HTML code below pasted in when we visit. Really, we mean it. Please follow the instructions. Please, even if you're quite the rebel, just follow the instructions this once. We simply don't have time for wankers, and we tend to think webmasters who can't follow fairly simple instructions for pasting in HTML might be, well, not so reliable as news sources.Another important note: We've received requests to join this ring from sites about flying saucers, cream cheese, the London underground, anti-white Jewish supremecy, real estate, and discount office supplies. We've received requests from lots of 'news' sites with 'news' about the webmaster's mental health, pet peaves, or marital problems. We've heard from "news" sites that haven't been updated in weeks or even months, from diary sites with no news, from commentary sites with no news, from movie review sites with no news, and from birdwatching sites, bug collecting sites, player piano sites, Nixon memorabilia sites, and dogwalking sites with no news. We're heard from a few sites that offered only a commercial news feed from a wire service (nothing 'alternative'), and from sites that may have offered news but were designed to annoy visitors with a ceaseless series of pop-up messages. We're extremely interested in alternative news sources, so if your site is one, we'll be double dang delighted to hear from you. We only respond to actual inquiries and webmasters whose sites are kinda-sorta-somewhat like what we've described at the top of this page: opposed to the status quo, driven by dedication, reasonably reasonable, and updated often. If that's not you, you're wasting your time.

Please look closely at the code you've pasted in: If it includes the term SITE-ID, then you haven't followed the red-letter instructions above. Please try again.
We'll check out your website, and if it's opposed to the status quo, driven by dedication, reasonably reasonable, and updated often, and if you've followed the instructions above and pasted in correct code, we'll add your site to the rotation. Please allow at least several days, as life sometimes precludes an immediate response.
Membership won't get you a million hits overnight, but the ring is new, and as it grows it should help all of its member sites grow, too.
If you know of more sites that seem like reasonable alternatives and ought to be in the ring, please spread the word. Thanks!
It's A-OK, of course, to make minor tweaks to the HTML to match your site's colors, style, column width, etc.
The above HTML was last updated on 12/18/2002.
