Conspiracies:
What's credible and what's not?

by Debby, Unknown News

Excerpt: I personally paid attention to Ronald Reagan speak about the shadow government and the likes when he was running for President. I heard it come out of his mouth and how he was against the power it held over the government. I had never heard of anything like that until then. After he went in to office an attempt was made on his life. ...

Excerpt: I am not interested in talking about a conspiracy about Reagan. ...

9/11 and tooty-fruity conspiracy theories
by James B., Unknown News

Excerpt: When you open a discussion of 9/11 with a plot to depopulate the world, with our air, food, and minds being poisoned, with the conspiracy to kill JFK, the Council on Foreign Relations, Skull & Bones, Bilderbergs, secret societies, a plan to destroy U.S. sovereignty, the North American Union, and the devaluation of the dollar, not a lot of people are going to keep listening.

Conspiracies:
A progression of persuasion

by James B., Unknown News

Excerpt: The world is 180 degrees apart from what we are taught. The leadership was bought out by financial interests following the Treason of 1913. This is the Federal Reserve act. It gave private bankers the sole right to print fake money and loan it out as real. Since then USA has been a slave society, meaning you are actually working to pay the bankers.

An ongoing and very active conspiracy
by DanD, Unknown News

Excerpt: There is, in fact, an ongoing and very active conspiracy in this world that is targeting for primary elimination the greater masses of humanity. I quite understandably realize now that this grand scheme is so monstrous that most people, yourselves included, summarily prefer not to even entertain it at all. Why? BECAUSE THE VERY THOUGHT OF IT IS JUST TOO DAMNED SCARY.

Aug. 28, 2006:
JonBenét died — and Bush lied?
by Thom Hartmann, Common Dreams

Excerpt: So we have Republicans who have admitted spying illegally. Who brag about it. And who have evidently — according to Tom Ridge — played the media like a violin for years. Could it be that the Karr/Ramsey case is another Soviet-style manipulation of the media?

Or is that too paranoid to contemplate?

Was NY Times reporter assassinated for uncovering Alito’s desire to crown Bush king?

Summary:  In his last article for The New York Times, journalist David Rosenbaum reported that Samuel Alito had written a memo in 1984, advising then-President Reagan that it would be legally sound for him to order wiretaps without a warrant. This news was, of course, especially pertinent in light of President Bush’s wiretapping habit.

Rosenbaum was mugged to death two weeks later, as Alito's confirmation hearings were about to begin.

Small world, isn't it? And full of odd coincidences.

Do you believe in conspiracy theories?
by John Laughland, The Spectator

Excerpt: British and American foreign policy is itself based on a series of highly improbable conspiracy theories, the biggest of which is that an evil Saudi millionaire genius in a cave in the Hindu Kush controls a secret worldwide network of ‘tens of thousands of terrorists’ ‘in more than 60 countries’ (says George Bush). News reports frequently tell us that terrorist organizations, such as those which have attacked Bali or Istanbul, have ‘links’ to al-Qaida, but we never learn quite what those ‘links’ are.

There's much more than this at Unknown News.

Do you believe in conspiracy theories? We do.

Do you believe Republicans are stealing American elections? The evidence is virtually inarguable.

Do you believe there have been thousands of unreported U.S. deaths
in Iraq?
We don't.

Do you believe the Vatican ordered bishops to cover up priests' sex abuses? It's true.

We're generally pretty dang skeptical, and for years Unknown News had an iron-clad rule against carrying any news that seemed ... "out there."

But from what we know about things the US government has done -- the kidnappings, the torture, the hidden prisons, the assassinations and invasions, and so on -- maybe it's not so nutty to wonder what other evils and atrocities remain a secret.

It would be kinda nutty not to wonder.

If there's one thing we know for certain about such matters, it's that we're not supposed to know much. It ought to be obvious to anyone with an open mind and open eyes that the Warren Report doesn’t add up, and that the 9/11 Commission's Report dodged all the difficult questions.

And anyone who's cognizant knows that the US government is not at all about "truth, justice, and the American way."

The only indisputible fact, is that we don't have the answers.

And for us, that's where it sits.

We'd love to see an end to secrecy, an open and honest official investigation. But until that happens, and until the results of a straightforward investigation are released, uncensored, unredacted, there simply isn't enough credible information to reach a credible conclusion about such matters.

So we ask questions that might seem "out there," but we never answer those questions. There are no answers... yet.
